We liked the affordable price of this mattress, above all, but we also liked its firmness. Although the materials used in manufacturing this product are not the best, it manages to offer you a comfortable sleep.

Materials

The Tuft & Needle is a memory foam mattress made of two layers of foam that measure a total of 10”. The bottom layer is a 7” of a base support foam of 1.8 pounds per cubic foot that creates the support of the product and offers its shape. The top layer is a 3” layer of polyfoam of 2.9 PCF and is what makes it comfortable and supportive for your body. Basically, it is a blend of two types of memory foam which makes it less comfortable and reliable than other models. The manufacturer’s choice of using polyfoam instead of a more quality material allows them to create a more affordable version but takes off its durability and comfort level.
On top of both layers, there is a 100% polyester and rayon cover in a plain white finish, a thinner and cheaper-looking cover compared to other models. The polyurethane foam is known to release odors and the thin cover doesn’t help it look or feel more quality than it really is.

Comfort and support

If you want a soft and cozy mattress, this is not what you should buy because it’s firmer than most models available on the market. While some customers might appreciate the firmness and the body support it offers, others might consider it too hard for a comfortable sleep. Unlike other models that follow the contour of the body, this one keeps the sleeper floating on the top layer without creating balance.
However, pressure relief is good, it offers bounce and maintains its shape during movements so you won’t disturb your sleep partner while getting in and out of bed. Weight distribution is satisfactory but it doesn’t match the performance of other competitors. The firm layers of the Tuft & Needle mattress make it less ideal for side sleepers that need a softer material that will hug their body. Back and stomach sleepers will love this firmness and the spinal support they will experience throughout the night.
The cover also influences the level of comfort of this mattress and since it’s not as thick and soft as in other models, the feeling will not be as soothing as you would want. A quilted cover would have increased the feeling of comfort and would have made it more pleasant to touch. Still, it manages to create a cool surface and to keep you from sweating in hot nights.

Trial and warranty

The Tuft & Needle mattress comes with different trial periods, depending on the retailer you choose. You can either opt for a 30-days trial to get to test it and see how well it works for you or you can go for a longer 100-days trial period. This will help you decide whether or not it is the one you need. Regardless the trial period, the product comes with a 10-year warranty to make sure it remains in the best shape. The customer support of the manufacturer is impressive and very responsive to their customer’s requirements.

Final Thoughts

Different types of mattresses adapt to the sleeping style of different people and this one will surely please those who love sleeping on a hard surface. It might be too hard for the taste of some but it surely maintains a firm sleeping posture. This model is very thick so it can support heavy people and will keep their spine in a straight position. Another thing we liked about this product is the long trial warranty that will help you decide whether or not it’s the right type for you. All in all, it’s a reliable choice that can bring you many benefits.

    How firm is this mattress?

It seems like a supportive mattress, I might actually buy it. The price tag isn’t bad either, so this will most probably be my final choice.
